Tamim Iqbal took the reverse decision after meeting with Bangladesh's PM Sheikh Hasina.

According to reports, Tamim Iqbal met the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina at her home along with his wife after being invited for a meeting and they discussed his retirement announcement. During the meeting, former captain Mashrafe Mortaza and BCB President Nazmul Hassan were present.

After the meeting, Tamim Iqbal reversed his decision. However, there are not many details about his participation in the ongoing series against Afghanistan.

On Thursday, Tamim Iqbal shocked everyone by announcing his retirement. His announcement came the next day after he captained the first ODI against Afghanistan.

Tamim Iqbal called for a press conference in a different hotel than where the players were staying. During the press conference, he broke down and said that it was the end of his international career.

“This is the end for me. I have given my best. I have tried my best. I am retiring from international cricket at this moment,” Tamim had said.

“Yesterday (Wednesday) against Afghanistan was my last international game. I am retiring from international cricket effective right now. It was not a sudden decision. I was thinking about the different reasons. I don’t want to mention it here," he had said.

After he announced the decision, Bangladesh Cricket Board appointed Liton Das as the interim captain for the second and the third ODI in the ongoing series against Afghanistan. Talking about Tamim Iqbal's decision, "He has given a lot to Bangladesh cricket in his long career. The whole team respects his decision," Liton Das said.

The former Bangladesh captain made his ODI debut in February 2007 and has been one of the top run-getters in the format. He has scored 8313 runs, which is the most by any Bangladesh cricketer.

Recently, Tamim Iqbal was criticized by BCB president Nazmul Hassan. During the day of the first ODI, Nazmul Hassan had accused the Bangladesh cricketer of being unprofessional. This might have played a role in his retirement announcement.
