Bangladesh cricketer Tanzim Hasan Sakib under fire for his misogynistic comments

Young Bangladesh bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib had posted misogynistic comments on his social media handles.

Bangladesh’s young pacer Tanzim Hasasn Sakib had a wonderful game against India in the last Super Four round game in Colombo. He made his debut and took Rohit Sharma’s wicket on second ball of his first over. He became a star for Bangladesh after his magnificent bowling spell against the Asia Cup 2023 Champions. Tanzim Hasan Sakib has come into a big controversy for his ‘misogynistic’ social media posts. He has been severely criticized for that as well.

Tanzim Hasan Sakib's patriarchal mindset

Tazim Hasan Sakib posted a misogynistic post about working women. Tanzim’s thought highlighted the patriarchal mindset of the sub-continent people. Tanzim Hasan posted, “If the wife works, the husband’s rights are not ensured. If the wife works, the child's rights are not ensured. If the wife works, her elegance is damaged. If the wife works, the family is ruined. If the wife works, the veil is ruined. If the wife works, society is ruined.”

Bangladesh pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib posted this on Facebook last year and fans dug up his post and criticized his patriarchal mindset. In one more social media post, Tanzim Hasan Sakib warned men that their sons would not have a modest mother if they married ‘a woman who is accustomed to free mixing with her male friends in a university.’ Tanzim Hasan Sakib is under fire for invoking such blatant misogynistic comments on social media.

Bangladesh Cricket Board’s cricket operations chief Jalal Yunus said that they have been looking into the matter since it came to their notice. Yunus said, “The issue came to our attention, We are looking into the matter.” Bangladesh had a disappointing Asia Cup 2023 as they only managed to win two games, one against Afghanistan and one against India. They will now take on New Zealand in a three-match ODI series before flying to India for World Cup 2023.
