SA vs BAN: Taskin Ahmed doubtful for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match 23
Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed missed the game against India due to shoulder injury.
While Bangladesh are waiting for Shakib Al Hasan to get fit before their key clash against South Africa at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, They have suffered another major setback in their camp. Pace bowler Taskin Ahmed also entered the doubtful list for Bangladesh. Taskin Ahmed might miss Bangladesh's next league game against South Africa due to a shoulder injury. South Africa had a wonderful win against the defending champions at Wankhede.
Taskin Ahmed was not part of the game against India in Pune due to his shoulder injury and he is yet to recover. Taskin Ahmed also missed Bangladesh's practice session on Sunday. Bangladesh arrived in Mumbai from Pune on 20th October and Taskin was given rest for a few days to recover completely. Unfortunately, he is still not 100% to begin his preparations for the comeback. Taskin will be spending more time away from the action to recover completely.
As quoted by Cricbuzz, A member from Bangladesh team management looked unsure of Taskin Ahmed playing in the next game, “Let us see what happens today (in the practice session) but he looks doubtful for the next game against South Africa as he is yet to recover fully. Even if we don't get him (Taskin) against South Africa, we are expecting him to be available when we start our campaign in Kolkata," Bangladesh will play the Netherlands at Eden Gardens.
Taskin Ahmed had complained about his shoulder injury during Bangladesh’s tour of South Africa in 2022. Taskin was advised to undergo surgery to get rid of the problem but the team management avoided that option to keep himself ready for the T20 World Cup last year in Australia. Taskin Ahmed complained about the pain once again during their second game against England, coach Chandika Hathurusingha introduced him to some exercise and Taskin played with an injured shoulder.
Bangladesh are dealing with multiple injuries in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Shakib Al Hasan had a quad tear against New Zealand in Chennai and missed the next game against India in Pune. Shakib Al Hasan is batting in the nets but he is yet to bowl and test his fitness for the upcoming games. Bangladesh management will decide on him after Shakib gets to bowl in the practice session at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
