Taskin Ahmed ruled out of Ireland test with side strain
Bangladesh bowler Taskin Ahmed will miss the one-off test against Ireland.
Just before the start of one-off test against Ireland, Bangladesh suffer a huge setback. Ace Pace bowler Taskin Ahmed has been ruled out of game which is scheduled to start from 4th April in Dhaka. Taskin Ahmed sustained side strain during the 3-match T20 series against Ireland. Taskin Ahmed was present during the practice session of Bangladesh, but he did not bowl. This is seen as a big setback for the Bangla tigers before their all important Test match against Ireland. BCB is yet to announce his replacement.
Taskin's injury will take time to recover
According to various media reports from Bangladesh, Uncapped pace bowler Rejaur Rahman Raja is set to replace express pace bowler Taskin. Earlier Bangladesh Cricket Board in a statement said, “Taskin has been ruled out and his replacement will be named soon”. While Bangladesh Cricket team’s physio Bayjedul Islam Khan has been quoted in media that Taskin’s injury will take almost 4 weeks to recover. He said, “Taskin underwent an MRI scan today which confirmed that he has left side strain and such injuries take 4 weeks of recovery”.
Injury problem creating trouble in Taskin's career
In the recently concluded Limited overs series, Taskin Ahmed looked in a good rhythm while bowling. Taskin in 3 ODIs and 3 T20s picked up a total of 13 wickets. Taskin has been credited for making Bangladesh a decent pace attack. His game and skills have brought confidence among youngsters. Taskin’s fitness has been a big issue in his career. He has played only 12 tests after making his debut in 2017. He made his international debut in 2014 and has played only 57 ODIs & 52 T20s in 9 years of his career.
So far in this tour, Ireland has managed to register only one victory in their 6 games. They defeated Bangladesh in the second T20 international. Taskin’s injury has surely given them a breather in new ball attack yet Bangladesh will be banking on their spinners and turning wicket for the win.
