The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to take place from February 19 to March 9.

The ICC Champions Trophy (CT) is making its much-awaited return after eight years, with the last edition of the tournament being played in 2017 in England.

The tournament will start on February 19 in Karachi and conclude with the final on March 9 in Lahore (Dubai if India qualify). India are scheduled to play all of their games in Dubai and will not travel to Pakistan due to security reasons.

The tournament will feature eight teams divided into two groups – Group A and Group B. The ninth edition of the competition will be held across venues in Pakistan and Dubai, featuring a total of 15 matches.

Group A includes India, Bangladesh, New Zealand, and defending champions Pakistan, while Group B consists of England, Australia, South Africa, and Afghanistan.

As the countdown for the tournament begins, let’s take a look at the number of ODI matches each participating team is scheduled to play between 9th January, 2025 and before the start of the competition.

ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Remaining ODI matches of all participating teams

England

England will play three ODIs before the ICC Champions Trophy. They are set to tour India for a three-match ODI series starting on February 6. The first match will be held in Nagpur on February 6, followed by the second match in Cuttack on February 9. England will finish their tour on February 12 in Ahmedabad.

New Zealand

New Zealand have at least three ODIs left before the Champions Trophy 2025. They will host Sri Lanka in Auckland on January 11 for the final ODI of the ongoing series. The Kiwis will then take part in the Pakistan Tri-Nation series, facing Pakistan and South Africa on February 8 and February 10 respectively in Multan. If they qualify for the final of the tri-series, they’ll be left with four games before the ICC event.

South Africa

South Africa will travel to Pakistan in February to strengthen their preparation for the Champions Trophy. They will take part in the Pakistan Tri-Nation series with Pakistan and New Zealand. South Africa will face New Zealand on February 10 in Multan, followed by a match against Pakistan on February 12 on the same venue.

NOTE: They could play one more game if they qualify for the final of the Tri-Nation series, scheduled for February 14 in Multan.

Bangladesh

At the time of writing, on 9th January, 2025, Bangladesh have no ODIs scheduled before the tournament. They will play warm-up matches of the tournament before they face India in the second game of the tournament in Dubai on February 20.

Afghanistan

At the time of writing, on 9th January, 2025, Afghanistan have no ODIs scheduled before the tournament. They will play in warm-up matches of the tournament before they face South Africa in the third game of the tournament in Karachi on February 21.

Pakistan

Pakistan will host South Africa and New Zealand in a Tri-Nation series before hosting the Champions Trophy. They will face New Zealand in Multan on February 8, followed by a match against South Africa at the same venue on February 12.

NOTE: They could play one more game if they qualify for the final of the Tri-Nation series, scheduled for February 14 in Multan.

Australia

Australia will play just one ODI before the Champions Trophy. They will face Sri Lanka on February 13 in Galle.

India

India will host England for a three-match ODI series in February before the Champions Trophy 2025. The Men in Blue will start the series in Nagpur on February 6, followed by the second match in Cuttack on February 9. The series will conclude on February 12 in Ahmedabad.
