Teams with most 250+ totals in IPL history

Only 11 times 250+ has been scored in the IPL.
There was a time when a target of 250 runs in an ODI game was considered a big total. But the time has changed, and 250 runs are scored in 20 overs. Especially in the Indian Premier League (IPL), some of the highest T20 totals are registered. The IPL has changed the dynamics of cricket.
The highest total in franchise cricket history is registered in the IPL, and the highest second innings score in all T20s was registered in the IPL. Before 2024, only twice 250+ totals were scored in the IPL, but in the IPL 2024 edition, eight times 250+ was scored by teams. But have you ever wondered which team has crossed the 250-run mark most times in the history of the IPL? Let’s find out.
Here is the list of teams with most 250+ totals in IPL history
6. Delhi Capitals – 1 Time

Delhi Capitals’ (DC) only 250+ total in the IPL came against Mumbai Indians in 2024 edition of the tournament in their home fixture. After being asked to bat first by the visitors, DC started on a good note scoring 92 in the powerplay itself. With major contributions from Jake Fraser-McGurk (84 off 27), Abhishek Porel (36 off 27), Shai Hope (41 off 17), Rishabh Pant (29 off 19) and Tristan Stubbs (48 off 25), DC posted a total of 257/4, which is their highest total in the history of IPL.
5. Punjab Kings – 1 Time

On April 26, 2024, Punjab Kings (PBKS) created history when they registered the highest ever successful run-chase in the history of IPL. In match No. 42 of the 2024 edition, PBKS faced Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata. After winning the toss and asking the hosts to bat first, PBKS conceded 261 runs in the first innings only to chase it down in the second innings by eight wickets and eight balls remaining. They registered their first and only 250+ total in the IPL in that game.
4. Lucknow Super Giants – 1 Time

Lucknow Super Giants have achieved the feat once. Infact, they became second team after Royal Challengers Bengaluru to achieve this feat. They did it against Punjab Kings in 2023 in Mohali. They did it while batting first when they posted one of the highest IPL totals of 257/5. Kyle Mayers (54 off 24) and Marcus Stoinis (72 off 40) made fifties, and there were some other cameos as well. LSG won that game by 56 runs after dismissing PBKS for 201.
3. Kolkata Knight Riders – 2 Times

IPL 2024 saw five of the top six IPL totals recorded in the tournament history. The third highest one is registered under the name Kolkata Knight Riders. They went on to cross the 250-run mark against Delhi Capitals in Vishakapatnam. It was because of the carnage from Sunil Narine at the top. He smashed a 39-ball 85, and KKR posted 272/7, which is their highest IPL total now. DC were bowled out for 166 in the second innings and lost the game by 106 runs.
KKR’s second 250+ total also came in the IPL 2024 when they smashed 261 against Punjab Kings at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 26th April, 2024.
2. Royal Challengers Bengaluru – 2 Times

Before the IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) held the record for the highest IPL total of 263/5, which they made against Pune Warriors India when Chris Gayle smashed an iconic 175 not out. This total remained at the top for 11 years before it was broken. But after that, RCB crossed the 250-run mark for the second time against SRH while chasing 288 in Bengaluru in 2024 and made 262/7 and lost by 26 runs. With this, RCB now have two scores of over 250 runs in the IPL history.
1. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 4 Times

Before the IPL 2024, the highest IPL total for Sunrisers Hyderabad was 231/2, but in 2024, they broke all batting records. SRH registered three totals of not just 250 runs but over 265 runs. They scored 266/7 against Delhi Capitals, posted 277/3 against Mumbai Indians, and had the highest IPL total of 286/3 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The level of batting firepower SRH has it looked like they have made a habit of posting big totals.
Sunrisers’ fourth score of 250+ came in their first match of IPL 2025, when they smashed 286 against RR in Hyderabad.
