"I'm very confident I can play test cricket again," Karun Nair continues to dream of India comeback

Karun Nair is only the second Indian batsman to hit a test triple century.
32-year-old Karun Nair feels “very confident” of making a comeback to the Indian test side after a bumper last year at the domestic level.
The right-hander is India’s only second triple-centurion in test cricket after Virender Sehwag. He achieved this feat in his debut series against England in 2016. In only his third test innings, he scored 303* off 381 balls in Chennai.
However, Nair got to play only four more test innings, all against Australia in a low-scoring series in 2017, before being dropped from the playing XI.
I know that I’m good enough: Karun Nair
Ahead of the 2023-24 domestic season, Karun Nair had left Karnataka due to not getting enough game time and moved to Vidarbha, where he amassed huge runs. He scored 690 runs during Vidarbha’s run to the Ranji Trophy final.
Earlier this year, while the attention was on the Indian Premier League (IPL), Nair got a call from Northamptonshire and had an impressive County Championship season, scoring 487 runs in 11 innings, with a best of 202*.
Speaking with PTI recently, Nair asserted he still has the fire to dream of a return to the test side.
Nair said, “Yes, of course. Everyone plays this game to go out there and represent your country and that’s my only aim now — to play Test cricket again, which I think, I’m very confident that I can. I know that I’m good enough.“
“I’ve had scored a lot of runs in the last one year in all formats. I’ve just been trying to continue doing what I’ve been doing the last one year on every given opportunity…taking every opportunity as a new day,” he added.
