Despite his efforts, India lost the game by two wickets with eight balls remaining.

4. 55* vs Bangladesh, Hangzhou, 2023

Tilak scored an unbeaten 55 against Bangladesh in Hangzhou in 2023. Chasing a small target of 97 runs, India lost opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck.

Tilak then joined captain Ruturaj Gaikwad to put together an unbeaten 97-run stand for the second wicket, securing the win for India. His knock, which featured two fours and six sixes, helped India advance to the final of the Asian Games Men’s Cricket Competition.

One of Tilak’s finest innings in his young career came during the second T20I of England’s tour of India in 2025 in Chennai.

Chasing a target of 166, India kept losing wickets and found themselves struggling at 78/5. Tilak top-scored for the hosts with an unbeaten 72 off 55 balls, staying calm under pressure and building crucial partnerships with tail-enders Arshdeep Singh and Ravi Bishnoi.

India clinched the game in the final over, winning by two wickets. Tilak was named Player of the Match for his crucial half-century.

2. 107* vs South Africa, Centurion, 2024

One of Tilak’s most memorable T20I innings came in Centurion against South Africa in 2024, when he hit his maiden century.

Tilak’s unbeaten 107-run knock, which consisted of eight fours and seven sixes, propelled the visitors to a massive first innings score of 219 runs. The southpaw was well supported by Abhishek Sharma, who contributed with 50 runs off 25 balls.

India won the game by 11 runs.

After scoring his maiden T20I hundred in the third match of the series against South Africa in 2024, Tilak Varma repeated his heroics again as he hit another ton in the following game. He registered his highest T20I score of 120* at Centurion.

Opting to bat first, India notched up a massive total of 283/1 on the back of Tilak’s stunning century, which included nine fours and 10 sixes. He put on an unbeaten 210 runs with Sanju Samson, who also scored a ton in the game, for the second-wicket partnership.

The visitors won the game by 135 runs and Tilak was named Player of the Match for scoring his second T20I ton.
