Tilak Varma makes a video call to Dewald Brevis to congratulate him on his maiden South Africa call-up

A few days back, Dewald had video-called Tilak Varma to congratulate him on his India T20I debut.

The 20-year-old Dewald Brevis has received his maiden national team call-up with less than two months to go for the World Cup in India. Reacting to the selection, Dewald Brevis’ Mumbai Indians teammate Tilak Varma video-called the South African batter. Varma had shared a video on his Instagram congratulating him.

Varma also wrote: “Congratulations on your call-up brother! So happy and proud of you,” on his Instagram story.

Dewald Brevis earlier wished Tilak Varma for his India debut

The duo, representing Mumbai Indians, share a special bond and have seen hanging out together several times. Earlier, when Tilak Varma made his India debut against West Indies, Dewald Brevis shared a video, wishing the young Indian.

In the video shared by BCCI, Brevis was seen talking about Varma’s debut. He congratulated Varma and spoke about how excited he is to see Varma there in the Indian jersey.

“I hope you’re very excited. I don’t know if I’m more excited that you, but I just wanna say from my side and from the Brevis family congratulations on your debut. It’s such a great moment for you and your family. I can just imagine how your parents and everyone must be. It’s great to see you out there living your dream out, and it gave me goose bumps those that second ball and third ball. Now you always have my support and all the best for the rest of their serious,” Brevis had said.

Replying to that video, Varma said that he was surprised to see Brevis there but added that he is always will be his brother. “I really loved it. It was a wonderful surprise. I was thinking that could be my coach or my family. But the other option was Dewald Brevis, my brother. So I was really happy. And thank you so much. Yeah, I’ll see you soon. I’m calling you a video call, brother. Thank you. Thank you so much.”

Dewald Brevis was one of the stars in the last year’s U19 World Cup. Since then, his graph has seen an exponential rise. Brevis was picked up by Mumbai Indians in the auction and he was a part of the team in the last edition as well. Now, the youngster has earned his international call-up.
