Watch: Tilak Varma visits MI teammate and best friend Dewald Brevis' home in South Africa
Tilak Varma and Dewald Brevis share a good bond among them.
Indian left-hand batter Tilak Varma is among the rising stars in the cricket world. Tilak has been an impressive youngster for India in T20I format and after the World Cup, he is getting his chances in the 50-overs format as well. Tilak is currently with the Indian side for South African tour and made his comeback in the ODI playing XI. Due to a low-scoring game, Tilak didn’t get much time to show his talent with the bat in the first ODI.
Similarly, Dewald Brevis is seen as the next big thing for South African cricket and fans have already started calling him the next AB De Villiers. Brevis is away from international action and taking part in the South African first-class domestic championship. Tilak and Brevis share a great friendship as they both share same dressing room in the IPL. Brevis has recently hosted his old friend from India, Tilak at his home in Johannesburg.
Tilak Varma meets Dewald Brevis
Tilak Varma posted a video of him spending time with his Mumbai Indians teammate Dewald Brevis. Tilak, who is one year senior to Brevis, shares a great bond with the South African and they both seem to enjoy each other’s company. Tilak played a bit of cricket and a bit of Table tennis along with Brevis in his short stay at Brevis’ home and also clicked a picture with Brevis’ family who stay in Johannesburg.
Tilak also made a bit of fun of Brevis’ table tennis skills. Varma posted a tweet with the caption, “Distance doesn’t change much, not even your table tennis skills. Was so good meeting you and your family my brother, and can’t wait to see you soon. Thank you for hosting me.” Brevis made his international debut for South Africa in the T20I format against Australia in August before the World Cup in 2023.
Dewald Brevis is yet to make a permanent place in the South African squad in white-ball cricket, while Tilak Varma is trusted by the BCCI in white-ball formats. Tilak came in to bat at number 4 in the first ODI in India’s chase of 117 runs at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. India defeated South Africa by 8 wickets in the first ODI match and took a lead of 1-0 in the three-match ODI series against South Africa. The second game will be played on Tuesday in Gqeberha.
