Wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel scored 90 runs in 149 balls with six boundaries and four sixes in his innings.
Indian wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel continued to impress everyone with his spirited batting performance against England in the ongoing five-match test series. Jurel played a magnificent knock at JSCA Stadium in Ranchi and fell short of his maiden test hundred by just 10 runs. Jurel took India’s total above 300 and cut down the deficit of first innings under 50.
Dhruv Jurel played magnificent shots during his 90-run knock and added decent partnerships along with Indian tail. Jurel made his debut in the Rajkot test and scored 46 runs in his maiden test innings. Jurel was dismissed by English left-arm spinner Tom Hartley in the first innings of Ranchi test. He castled Jurel with his fine left-arm spin delivery and stopped from getting to his maiden test ton.
Dhruv Jurel fell short of his maiden test ton
Dhruv Jurel was taking India close to English total, but Tom Hartley had his best delivery saved for the Indian wicket-keeper batter. Hartley delivered on the middle stump which deceived Jurel with turn and bounce. He was caught off-guard while trying to play a defensive push but the ball managed to go past his bat and rattled Jurel’s middle and off stump.

India’s newly inducted wicket-keeper batter scored 90 runs in 146 deliveries and smacked six fours and four sixes in his knock. Jurel was cautious during the start of his innings and weathered the storm on final session on second day’s play. He then took on English bowlers in the first session of third day and scored runs freely. Kuldeep Yadav also contributed immensely and scored 28 runs in 131 deliveries.
Dhruv Jurel and Kuldeep Yadav added 76 runs for the eighth wicket in 32 overs. England scored 353 runs in the first innings and restricted India on 307. Jurel was India’s top-scorer in the first innings, while Yashasvi Jaiswal was another batter to go past 50-run mark for India. Jaiswal scored 73 runs in 117 balls. English off-spinner Shoaib Bashir picked up five wickets in the first innings.
