Newly appointed Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan is not an unknown figure in the Asia Cup tournament. Shakib has been part of Bangladesh’s Asia Cup campaign since 2010 the last time Bangladesh played in the final of the tournament in 2018 in Dubai. Shakib in his 13 Asia Cup games has scored 402 runs at an average of 33.50 with 3 fifty plus scores. Shakib is among the top 5 leading run-getters in the tournament currently and will be looking to win the championship for the first time for Bangladesh
4. Tamim Iqbal (Bangladesh) – 519 runs:

Another Bangladeshi player is among the top 5 leading run-getters in the tournament, suggesting the rise of the Bangladesh tigers in the Asia Cup. Bangladesh have played the final twice in the last three 50-overs Asia Cup tournaments. Tamim Iqbal made his Asia Cup debut in 2008 and since then he has played 13 games. He has scored 519 runs at an average of 43.25 with 6 fifty-plus scores. Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal will miss the upcoming edition in Pakistan and Sri Lanka due to injury.
3. Virat Kohli (India) – 613 runs:

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli made his Asia Cup debut in 2010 and played only three editions of the 50-overs Asia Cup. Virat Kohli asked for rest in the 2018 edition in Dubai, where India under Rohit Sharma’s leadership defeated Bangladesh in the final and became the champions for a record 6th time. Virat Kohli’s highest score in ODIs, an innings of 183 against Pakistan also came in the same tournament back in 2012. Virat has played only 11 matches and batted in 10 innings in his three apperances in ODI Asia Cup tournaments and scored 613 runs at an outstanding average of 61.30, he has also scored 3 centuries in the tournament.
2. Mushfiqur Rahim (Bangladesh) – 699 runs:

Bangladesh senior player and wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim has remained a mainstay in Bangladesh batting order since he made his debut for them. In a list dominated by mostly Bangladeshis and Indians, Rahim stands second in leading run-scorers of the Asia Cup who are also part of the 2023 tournament. 36-year-old wicket-keeper has played 21 games since the 2008 Asia Cup and scored 699 runs. Rahim’s average in the tournament is 36.78. He has 2 centuries and 2 fifties under his name in the tournament.
1. Rohit Sharma (India) – 745 runs:

Captain of India, and also the winner of the last 50-over Asia Cup in Dubai, Rohit Sharma is currently leading the chart as a leading run-scorer in the Asia Cup among the active players. Rohit Sharma made his Asia Cup debut in 2008 in Pakistan and since then in 10 years he has played 22 games in the tournament for India. Rohit has scored 745 runs in the tournament at an average of 46.56. Rohit also smashed a century in the tournament along with 6 half-centuries. He needs 227 runs more to become the All-time leading run-scorer for India in the Asia Cup by overtaking Sachin Tendulkar.
