Asia Cup 2023 will witness some brilliant players from the Asian sub-continent taking the field. Pakistan and Sri Lanka will host the 16th edition of Asia Cup. For the first time in its history, two different nations will be playing as hosts of the tournament. Pakistan will be hosting Asia Cup 2023 games at Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan and Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. In tournament history, it has seen many magical bowling performances.. 5. Mustafizur Rahman (Bangladesh) – 10 Wickets
Bangladesh left-arm pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman has played only one 50-over Asia Cup in his career so far. Mustafizur was Bangladesh’s X-factor in the Asia Cup 2018 and helped his team qualify for the final of the tournament. Bangladesh lost the final in a tight finish against India, but Mustafizur Rahman, with his deceiving slower balls, almost won Bangladesh their first-ever major title. Mustafizur Rahman has played five games in the tournament so far and picked up 10 wickets. His economy rate was 4.4 in the tournament.
4. Rashid Khan (Afghanistan) – 10 Wickets
Just like Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, Afghanistan’s leg-spinner Rashid Khan also has an X-factor in his game. Rashid Khan will be a crucial player in the Afghanistan setup and is expected to play a massive role in the tournament. He made his 50-overs Asia Cup debut in the year 2018 in Dubai, where they defeated Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the group round and played a tie against India. Rashid Khan was the player of the match against Bangladesh, and he also ended up as the leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 10 wickets in 5 games. His economy is also magnificent, with only 3.72 in the tournament.
3. Kuldeep Yadav (India) – 10 Wickets
With Yuzvendra Chahal dropped from the squad, Kuldeep Yadav will have a huge responsibility on his shoulders. Team India will expect a 2018 Asia Cup-like performance from him in the upcoming tournament as well. Kuldeep Yadav also played a massive role in the 2018 Asia Cup victory, along with Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Kuldeep Yadav is the only specialist spinner available in the Indian squad for the Asia Cup. He made his debut in the 2018 edition and played five games. Kuldeep ended up picking up 10 wickets with an economy rate of 4.08 in the tournament.
2. Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh) – 19 Wickets
Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan will be one of the most experienced players among all six teams taking part in the Asia Cup. Since starting his Asia Cup journey in 2010, he has been a wonderful player for Bangladesh in the tournament. Bangladesh played in the finals in two of the last three 50-over Asia Cups, and it is all due to the hard work of their star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. Along with the good batting numbers, Shakib has also put up staggering numbers as a bowler. He has played 13 games in the tournament and picked up 19 wickets.
1. Ravindra Jadeja (India) – 19 Wickets
Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is also one of the most experienced players in the tournament. Jadeja played his first 50-overs Asia Cup in 2010, and since then he has become an integral part of India’s limited-overs team. In the upcoming edition, he will be taking up a huge role along with young Kuldeep Yadav in India’s spin bowling department as well as a finisher in the lower-order. Ravindra Jadeja is currently the leading wicket-taker amongst the active cricketers and has an opportunity to overtake Irfan Pathan to become India’s all-time highest wicket-taker in the Asia Cup. Jadeja has taken 19 wickets in the 14 games he has played in his Asia Cup career so far.
