Only one batsman has hit over 400 runs in an innings in Ranji Trophy history.

Ranji Trophy is the biggest cricket tournament played every year in India. It was introduced back in 1934, and so far, 88 editions have taken place. Mumbai have won a total of 41 seasons, including a 15-season winning streak between from 1958-59 to 1972-73. This is the first and most important platform for a player who wants to represent the Indian team.

Every player who plays for the national team, has done well in the Ranji Trophy to get a chance at the highest level. That is why the standard of this competition is very high. There are some incredible stats that have been registered in the Ranji Trophy, including the fourth-highest first-class individual score. Here we will talk about the top five individual scores in the Ranji Trophy.

Here are the Top five highest individual scores in Ranji Trophy history:

5. Tanmay Agarwal – 366:

The 28-year-old Tanmay Agarwal from Hyderabad became the latest batter to score a triple hundred in the Ranji Trophy, and he took it to another level as he smashed the fastest triple hundred in the history of First Class cricket. He ended up scoring 366 off 181 balls with 34 fours and 26 sixes, and his team made 615/4d against Arunachal Pradesh in just 59.3 overs and won the game by an innings and 187 runs.

4. M. V. Sridhar – 366

The fourth-highest individual score was registered by Maturi Sridhar from Hyderabad during the 1994 season. It came in a match against Andhra Pradesh in Secunderabad. Andhra made 263 runs, and Hyderabad replied with a massive 944/6d. Sridhar scored the highest individual score for his team and made 366 runs, with 37 fours and five sixes. However, that game ended in a draw.

3. Sanjay Manjrekar – 377

The previous highest score for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy was registered by Sanjay Manjrekar. It came during the semi-final of the 1991 against Hyderabad at Wankhede Stadium. Though this game ended in a draw, Manjrekar scripted history. He made 377 runs off 473 balls, with 50 fours and five sixes, and his team declared at 855/6d.

2. Prithvi Shaw – 379

Prithvi Shaw broke the record of Sanjay Manjrekar and registered the highest individual score for Mumbai and the second highest overall in the Ranji Trophy. It came in a group match against Assam in Guwahati in 2022. Mumbai batted once and declared at 687/4. Shaw registered a record-breaking 379 off 383 balls, with 49 fours and four sixes. Assam only managed 370 and 189 and lost the match by an innings and 128 runs.

There is only one instance when a batter crosses the 400-run mark in an innings in the Ranji Trophy. And this came in the 1948 season during a game between Kathiawar and Maharashtra. Kathiawar batted first and got all out for 238 runs in 76.1 overs. In reply, Maharashtra played 180 overs and made 826/4 when the game ended in a draw. Bhausaheb Nimbalkar scored an unbeaten 443 runs, with 49 fours and one six. This was then the second-highest first-class score and currently the fourth highest individual score in First Class cricket.
