Only two Indian captains have breached the triple figure-mark in T20I cricket.

Leading India in international cricket is the dream of every budding cricketer in the country. Only a few get to fulfill it.

Talking about T20I cricket, India have been led by 14 different men so far, of which, only five captained the side in more than 10 T20Is.

Most of the Indian captains in T20Is have been top and middle-order batsmen, and only a few of them managed to reach the three-figure score in games that they led.

5. Virat Kohli – 94* vs West Indies, 2019

Virat Kohli’s highest score as India’s T20I skipper is 94*, which he attained during a match in 2019 in Hyderabad against West Indies.

In the chase of 208, Kohli whacked 94* off 50 balls with six fours and six sixes to his name to help India win with eight balls to spare.

4. Suryakumar Yadav – 100 vs South Africa, 2023

In the Johannesburg T20I of India’s tour of South Africa 2023, captain Suryakumar Yadav blasted a sizzling century, scoring 100 runs off 56 balls. In his entertaining knock, Yadav walloped seven fours and eight sixes, propelling India’s total to 201.

India won the match by a huge margin of 106 runs as Kuldeep Yadav took a five-wicket haul to bowl the hosts out for only 97 runs.

3. Rohit Sharma – 111* vs West Indies, 2018

In November 2018, Rohit Sharma rained down 15 boundaries on West Indies in his knock of 111* off 61 balls in Lucknow.

Rohit’s pyrotechnics helped India post a total of 195 runs, which the bowlers defended comfortably as West Indies managed only 124. Rohit duly bagged the Man of the Match award.

2. Rohit Sharma – 118 vs Sri Lanka, 2017

Rohit Sharma’s first century as a captain in T20I cricket came in Indore in 2017 against Sri Lanka.

Batting first, Rohit and KL Rahul formed a giant opening partnership of 165 runs. While Rahul got out after scoring his fifty, Sharma converted his half-century into a cenury.

Rohit’s 118, which consisted 12 fours and 10 sixes, launched India to a massive total of 260 runs. India won by 88 runs in the end,

1. Rohit Sharma – 121* vs Afghanistan, 2023

Rohit Sharma’s third century as India’s captain in T20I cricket came in January 2023 against Afghanistan in Bengaluru.

Rohit and other Indian top-order batsmen struggled initially, losing four wickets for only 22 runs. But as the conditions got better, Sharma grew in confidence and found boundaries regularly. In all, he plundered 11 fours and eight sixes in his knock of 121* (69).

India posted 212. The match turned out to be a thrilling contest as the scores were tied in the regular match, and then the first Super Over was also tied.

India eventually won in the second Super Over.
