"His best without any doubt," Cricketing fraternity lauds Aiden Markram following his hundred against India in Cape Town test

Aiden Markram took only 99 balls to complete his seventh Test century.
South African opener Aiden Markram shifted his gear in the second innings of the Newlands test between India and South Africa. Indian bowlers started the day with a flurry of wickets, but Markram brought up his seventh Test ton in style to take his side to a challenging position in Cape Town. Markram played one of the finest counter-attacking knocks in test cricket.
Newlands rose to huge applauds when Aiden Markaram touched the three-figure marks playing a delicate square cut for four through points and gully. Social media also joined in to celebrate Markram’s success as the posts of appreciation poured in on Twitter. His innings took South Africa to a lead of above 60 runs in the second innings.
‘One of the finest test knock’
The day started with Indian bowlers picking early wickets as Jasprit Bumrah went on to get a five-wicket haul. Bumrah sent the South African middle order back early, but Aiden Markram stood tall against Indian pace bowlers. Aiden Markam took only 99 balls to complete one of the finest test centuries. Markram smashed 16 fours and 2 sixes on his way to get a hundred.
Here’s how cricketing fraternity reacted to Aiden Markram’s century:
Playing his final test match, Dean Elgar was pumped as well when Markram’s square cut touched the boundary, and the scorecard turned into triple figures. Markram started cautiously, but as soon as Bumrah started getting wickets, he shifted his gear and started playing attacking shots. Markram took on Mukesh Kumar and Prasidh Krishna.
This is the sixth fastest test hundred for South Africa. Former captain Ab De Villiers holds the record for fastest test ton for South Africa. De Villiers smashed a 75-ball ton against India in Centurion in 2010. After scoring 106 off 103 deliveries, Aiden Markram got dismissed by Mohammed Siraj. Markram was caught by Indian captain Rohit Sharma. Aiden Markram added 51 runs for the eighth wicket along with Kagiso Rabada.
