Twitter reacts as Rinku Singh holds nerves in final over to help India win over Australia in 1st T20I

India defeated Australia by 2 wickets in the first T20I at Visakhapatnam.

In a riveting clash at the ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, India emerged victorious against Australia in the first T20I of the five-match series. The match showcased stellar performances from both sides, with Suryakumar Yadav leading Indian team for the first time. Winning the toss India choose to field first.

Australia set an imposing target of 209 runs, anchored by a remarkable century from Josh Inglis, who scored 110 runs off just 50 balls, featuring 11 boundaries and 8 towering sixes. Steven Smith’s 52 and contributions from Matthew Short and Tim David propelled Australia to a formidable total of 208/3 in their allotted 20 overs. Indian bowlers faced a challenging task, with Prasidh Krishna and Ravi Bishnoi managing to pick up crucial wickets.

India win the first T20I

India’s chase began with a quick dismissal as Ruturaj Gaikwad was run out early in the innings. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal provided a fiery start, scoring 21 runs off just eight balls before falling victim to Matthew Short. Ishan Kishan played a pivotal role, contributing 58 runs from 39 deliveries, including two fours and five sixes. The middle-order, led by the Suryakumar Yadav, anchored the innings with a brilliant half-century and score 80 runs off 42 balls which included nine boundaries and 4 sixes, showcasing his leadership skills. Rinku Singh again played a brilliant knock in the end with a score of 22 in 14 balls.

India reached the target with a score of 209/8 in 19.5 overs.

After India’s victory, fans took it to twitter to congratulate the team for the their first victory of the series under a new leader.
