Twitter reacts after Australia thrash India in yet another ICC Cricket World Cup Final in Ahmedabad

India lose yet another ICC knockout final and ended as runners-up in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
After 47 intense matches in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, we had India and Australia as two finalists. Both teams locked horns with each other at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. There was a lot of talk about the strong Indian batting line-up ahead of the game, but it didn’t end the way India would have liked. The batting failed miserably when it required it the most.
Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first. Despite a good start, India were dismissed for 240 runs in 50 overs. They made 80/2 in the first ten overs and could only score 160 runs in 40 overs. It was smart bowling for Australia, and they were hitting the right areas. Apart from Rohit Sharma, none of Indian batters could play positive cricket.
India’s yet another defeat in ICC Knockouts
Rohit Sharma made a 31-ball 47 at the top. Virat Kohli (54 off 63) and KL Rahul (66 off 107) scored half-centuries for India. But none of the other batters could even make significant contributions. For Australia, Mitchell Starc bowled well and took 3/55. Josh Hazlewood (2/60) and Pat Cummins (2/34) also bowled well. India couldn’t get going and were struggling to even score boundaries in the middle overs.
In the second innings, the pacers brought India back into the game with 47/3 in 7 overs. David Warner (7), Mitchell Marsh (15), and Steve Smith (4) got out cheaply. But it was the massive partnership for the fourth wicket between Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne that took the game away from India and took the team home. Fans were also disappointed after the result, as India entered the game as favourites.
Here is how fans and experts reacted
Notably, Head was the Player of the Match when Australia beat India in the finals of the World Test Championship 2023 earlier this year, and once again, he almost single-handedly took Australia to another ICC title. He won MOTM in the semi-final game against South Africa and followed it up with another MOTM performance in the finals. Labuschagne also scored a vital half-century with him.
