Indian cricketer Virat Kohli is celebrating his 35th birthday today on 5th November, 2023.
Virat Kohli, a modern-day cricket legend, is celebrating his 35th birthday today on November 5, 2023. His birthday is coinciding with India’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match against South Africa. This encounter is being played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Kohli had made his debut for India in 2008, right after he won the U19 World Cup in Malaysia. It took him some time to figure out his spot in the India XI, but once he did, he was unstoppable. He scored centuries for fun at one point of time and was part of India’s 2011 World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy wins.
Once the old guard moved on, Virat Kohli took center stage in the Indian team and along with MS Dhoni, took the Indian team to new heights. He took over as India Test captain in 2014-15 and became the all-format captain in 2017.
He led India to the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 and the ICC World Test Championship 2021. Kohli kept India the no.1 Test team for five straight years. And under his leadership, India won their maiden Test series on Australian soil and almost won a Test series in South Africa and England as well.
With the bat, his record is exemplary. He has 8676 runs in 111 Tests with 29 centuries and an average of 49.29. He has scored 13525 runs in 288 ODIs with 48 centuries and averages 58.04. He is just one ton short of equaling Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 tons in ODIs.
In the T20Is, Virat Kohli has 4008 runs in 115 matches with one ton and 37 fifties. He is also one of the IPL greats with 7263 runs in 237 IPL games and 7 centuries at a strike rate of 130.02. He remains one of two batsmen to score 4 centuries in one IPL edition and has the record for most runs in a single IPL edition with 973.
