Twitter salutes David Miller as he scores sensational century under pressure against Australia in CWC 2023 semi-final

David Miller scored 101 runs in 116 balls with 8 fours and 5 sixes against Australia.
David Miller has played innings of his lifetime at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. He single-handedly took struggling South Africa above 200 runs with a magnificent century against Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 semi-finals. South African top-order had a poor start, struggled against Australian pace attack, and lost the first four wickets in just 12 overs. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood led the Australian attack beautifully and picked up two wickets each in the first spell.
After the fourth wicket, David Miller (101) and Heinrich Klaasen (47) had a wonderful recovery for the fifth wicket. Twitter hailed David Miller’s effort to take his team to a decent total against the in-form Australian batting line-up. Miller became a top twitter trend as soon as he smashed his 5th six in the innings to complete his 6th ODI century. Miller also became the first-ever South African batter to score a century in the ICC World Cup knockouts.

David Miller took charge of Proteas innings
South African middle-order had a bit of relief as Heinrich Klaasen (47) added 95 runs for the 5th wicket along with David Miller to help them recover after the early blows. David Miller was playing a great anchor role until Klaasen was present at the crease, but soon picked up his pace after Klaasen’s dismissal. Miller played 116 balls in his innings to score a record-breaking, magnificent century in a World Cup semi-finals. Miller gave South Africa a total to challenge Australians.
David Miller completed his century with six in 115 deliveries. Soon after completing the milestone, he was caught at square leg by Travis Head. Miller scored 101 runs in 116 balls with 8 fours and 5 sixes. He took on the leading wicket-taker in the 2023 World Cup, Adam Zampa. Miller scored runs off Zampa with a great strategic play. Zampa remained wicketless in the game and conceded 55 runs in his 7 overs. Adam Zampa has 23 wickets in the ongoing World Cup.

David Miller also stitched a couple of good 50+ stands, first with Heinrich Klaasen and then with Gerald Coetzee for the 7th wicket. They both added 53 runs in 13 overs and gave South Africa a platform to look for 200 plus after reeling under pressure on just 119 for 6. Australia need 213 runs to win the game and qualify for the final. Team India have already qualified for the World Cup final scheduled to be played in Ahmedabad on Sunday, November 19.
