Twitter erupts as Glenn Maxwell becomes the fastest batsman to hit a century in World Cup

Glenn Maxwell breaks Aiden Markram’s record of fastest century in World Cup.
In a scintillating display of power-hitting, Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell stamped his authority on the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, treating fans to a mesmerising century against Netherlands at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. His incredible knock of 106 off just 44 balls left every one in awe of his ability to clear the fence so frequently.
Australia’s decision to bat first, after winning the toss, proved to be a masterstroke. They posted an imposing total of 399/8 in their allotted 50-overs. Maxwell’s century was undoubtedly the highlight of the innings, but it was complemented by other notable contributions from David Warner, Steven Smith, and Marnus Labuschagne.
David Warner, Australian opener, set the tone for the innings with his explosive 104 runs off 93 balls. His partnership with Steven Smith, who chipped in with a valuable 71 runs from 68 balls, solidified Australia’s position. Marnus Labuschagne’s quick-fire 62 runs in 47 balls further accelerated the innings, providing Maxwell with the perfect platform to unleash his destructive prowess.
Glenn Maxwell’s century was a sight to behold, as he dispatched Netherlands’ bowlers to all parts of the ground. His innings was a masterclass of power-hitting, with a remarkable strike rate of 240.91. Maxwell’s century consisted of nine fours and a eight sixes, leaving the opposition utterly powerless. He easily found the gaps and manipulated the field placements at will.
Glenn Maxwell hits the fastest century in World Cup history
Maxwell’s innings was not only about brutal hitting but also smart shot selection. He paced his innings expertly, settling in before launching an all-out assault in the final overs.
Glenn Maxwell also broke Aiden Markram’s record of fastest century in World Cup. Markram hit a 49 ball century in the same ongoing tournament against Sri Lanka in the same ground.
