South African middle-order batter Heinrich Klaasen has become a crisis manager for Proteas. Heinrich Klaasen took South Africa out of trouble once again and safely landed them close to 400 runs. Heinrich Klaasen went on to smash his fourth ODI ton with a blistering knock against England at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Defending champions England need 400 runs to win this game against South Africa in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
Twitter lauded Klaasen’s effort in Mumbai that helped South Africa carry on with the momentum provided by top-order batters. Mumbai’s crowd was also on its feet after Klaasen raised his bat to celebrate his fourth ODI century. Fans have rated this as one of the finest ODI centuries in the World Cup. Social media also praised Heinrich Klaasen’s brutal power-hitting after the 40th over.

Heinrich Klaasen came in to bat when South Africa lost their third wicket in the 25th over. Stand-in captain Aiden Markram (42) and David Miller departed early after the second power-play. This put South Africa in a bit of trouble, as they were cruising for a 400-plus score. Klaasen, after playing a bit of an anchor role in the middle-overs, took the charge after going past his half-century. Klaasen took the assault and completed his century in just 61 balls.
Heinrich Klaasen was dismissed for 109 runs on 67 balls in the final overs. Klaasen was castled by Gus Atkinson, who came in replacing Sam Curran in the playing XI. Klaasen smashed 12 fours and four towering sixes at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Mumbai crowd also enjoyed his innings to the fullest, as the crowd was extremely cheerful in his favour while he was batting in the middle. This is Klaasen’s maiden World Cup century.
Along with Heinrich Klaasen, all-rounder Marco Jansen also contributed immensely to South African total of 399 runs. Jansen scored an unbeaten 75 and faced just 42 balls in his innings. Jansen smashed three fours and six sixes in his innings and added 151 runs in 13 overs along with Klaasen. Reeza Hendricks scored 85, while Rassie Van Der Dussen scored 60 in the top-order. England need 400 for the victory.
