India defeated New Zealand by 70 runs and have qualified for the finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

India have secured a spot in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 finals by defeating New Zealand in the first semi-finals held at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. This victory marks India’s return to the World Cup finals after their triumphant campaign on home soil in 2011. The clash showcased India’s dominance throughout the tournament. India will now fly to Ahmedabad to play the final with either South Africa or Australia.

India’s journey to the final has been nothing short of extraordinary, with standout performances from key players throughout the tournament. Virat Kohli reached a milestone by securing his 50th ODI century, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Now, India will eagerly await the winner between South Africa and Australia, who will face off in Kolkata on the 16th of November.

The match at Wankhede Stadium witnessed a batting performance from Indian side. Rohit Sharma, set the tone with a blistering 47 off 29 balls, laying the foundation for a mammoth total. Shubman Gill’s unbeaten 80, Virat Kohli’s commanding 117 and Shreyas Iyer’s 105 propelled India to a formidable score of 397/4 in 50 overs.

New Zealand faced an uphill battle, chasing a daunting target of 398 runs. Although Kane Williamson’s resilient 69 and Daryl Mitchell’s impressive 134 kept New Zealand in the game, Mohammed Shami’s seven-wickets haul proved to be the turning point. Shami’s exceptional bowling dismantled New Zealand batting line-up, they were bundled out by 327 in 48.5 overs.

As India qualified for the finals, fans took it to twitter to congratulate the team and their favorite players and showed their support.
