India defeated South Africa by seven wickets in the second test match to level the series.

In a stunning display of resilience and skill, India team orchestrated a dramatic comeback in the second test match against South Africa at Newlands, Cape Town. The turnaround was nothing short of extraordinary, as India, after a disappointing performance in the first test, came back with a determination to level the series. Team’s exceptional bowling performance played a pivotal role in their victory, marking a significant shift from the struggles they faced just days before.

The first test saw India facing a daunting challenge as South Africa dominated and won the test match by an innings and 32 runs. However, the second test presented a different narrative as Indian bowlers showcased brilliance, turning the tables on the hosts. With South Africa setting a target of 79 runs in the second innings, India’s quest for levelling test series victory in South Africa was still very much alive.

The foundation of India’s revival in the second test was laid by their bowlers, with Mohammed Siraj leading the charge. In the first innings, Siraj’s exceptional bowling performance, claiming six wickets, left South Africa reeling at a mere 55 runs. Jasprit Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar provided crucial support, ensuring the hosts faced an uphill battle.

India’s response with the bat in the first innings was led by Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who contributed 39 and 46 runs, respectively. Despite a few hiccups, including a collapse towards the end, India posted a total of 153 runs, gaining a crucial first-innings lead.

South Africa’s second innings saw a spectacular century from Aiden Markram, but India’s bowling maestro, Bumrah, struck back with six wickets, restricting the hosts to 176 runs. The relentless pressure applied by Indian bowlers ended South Africa’s innings at 176 with a lead of 78 runs.

In their pursuit of victory, India reached the target in 12 overs and ended with the score of 80/3. The complete match ended in just 107 overs, which is the shortest ever completed test match in the history of cricket.
