Twitter reacts as Indian bowlers run riot against Sri Lanka; Bowl them out for 55 to qualify for semi-finals

India have qualified for the semi-finals after decimating Sri Lanka by a huge margin of 302 runs.
Team India have thrashed Sri Lanka by 302 runs to get the largest ever win in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. India decimated Sri Lanka with the help of their pace-bowling attack. They bundled out Sri Lanka under 100 three times this year. Chasing 358, Sri Lanka were bundled out on just 55 runs with magnificent spells from pace bowlers. Mohammed Shami (5 wickets), Mohammed Siraj (3 wickets), and Jasprit Bumrah (1 wicket) had a dominating day at Wankhede Stadium.
Sri Lanka lost half their side in just the first 10 overs, giving several memes to fans on social media. Cricket fans on Twitter started trending “Miyan Bhai” after Mohammed Siraj’s magnificent opening spell to pick up three wickets. Fans also remembered Asia Cup 2023 final between the two countries that took place in September in Colombo, where team India bundled out Sri Lanka for just 50 runs. This was the lowest total Sri Lanka got in an ODI game.
Here’s how twitter reacted to India’s bowling performance and win over Sri Lanka:
Sri Lanka collapse against India
It all started on the first ball of Sri Lankan innings when Jasprit Bumrah trapped Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka in front, and he was given out based on the umpire’s call. Nissanka was dismissed on a golden duck. Soon after, Mohammed Siraj struck twice in his first over and got opener Dimuth Karunaratne and Sadeera Samarawickrama out on duck. Karunaratne was LBW, while Sadeera was caught on the third slip by Shreyas Iyer.
In his second over, Mohammed Siraj got Sri Lankan skipper Kusal Mendis castled for just one run. Mendis couldn’t deal with the movement Siraj was getting, and he lost his wicket to the Indian pacer. After a few overs, Mohammed Shami struck twice in his first and last over in the powerplay. Shami got Charith Asalanka caught at point by Ravindra Jadeja on just one run, and right on the next ball, he dismissed Dushan Hemantha, caught behind by KL Rahul.
Mohammed Shami went on to pick up one more 5-wicket haul in the World Cup and also become India’s leading wicket-taker in the World Cup with 45 wickets in just 14 games. India also hold the record for the highest ever ODI win when they defeated Sri Lanka by 317 runs in Thiruvananthapuram earlier this year. India posted 357 runs on the board with the help of Shubman Gill (92), Virat Kohli (88), and Shreyas Iyer (82). With this win, India have qualified for the World Cup semi-finals.
