ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Indian fans celebrate as they qualify for semi-finals following New Zealand's win over Bangladesh

India will take on New Zealand in their final group-stage match of ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Despite not being on the field today, India have made a progress in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and have moved a step closer to securing their third ICC Champions Trophy title. With New Zealand’s comfortable five-wicket win against Bangladesh, both India and New Zealand have qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament from Group A.

After winning the toss and bowling first, New Zealand were excellent in the field as they consistently picked up wickets to restrict Bangladesh to 236/9 in the first innings. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto top-scored for Bangladesh, scoring 77 off 110 balls.

Veteran batsmen Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim faced heavy criticism for throwing away their wickets with reckless strokes early in their innings.

In reply, despite losing two quick wickets, New Zealand looked comfortable in the run chase. The Kiwis were guided by Rachin Ravindra and Tom Latham, who scored 112 and 55 runs respectively, to secure a five-wicket win.

India and New Zealand will now face off on March 2, Sunday, in Dubai in a clash that will determine the top spot in Group A. India have emerged as strong favorites after their dominant wins against Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Shubman Gill starred with an unbeaten century against Bangladesh, while Virat Kohli returned to form with a ton against Pakistan. India’s pace attack has also performed well, with Mohammed Shami and Harshit Rana picking up five and four wickets respectively in the competition so far.

As they move closer to the semi-finals, India will hope that Rohit Sharma continues to provide strong starts, as batting becomes difficult as the game progresses.

It remains to be seen if the Men in Blue will make any changes to give players like Arshdeep Singh, Rishabh Pant, and Varun Chakaravarthy a chance against New Zealand.

On that note, let’s take a look at how Indian fans reacted to New Zealand’s win against Bangladesh, which sealed India’s semi-final berth.

This is how fans reacted to India’s qualification in the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025:
