Twitter reacts as India thrash West Indies by 9 wickets in the 4th T20I to level series 2-2
India to face West Indies in the series decider on Sunday at the same venue.
India comfortably won the fourth T20I against West Indies of the five-match series at Central Boward Park, Lauderhill, Florida on 12th August, 2023. With West Indies winning the first two games of the series India came back strong in the third T20I and continued in the fourth T20I to leveled up the series (2-2). Both the teams will face each other yet again for the series decider tomorrow.
Having won the toss, Rovman Powell decided to bat first Jason Holder, Shai Hope Odean Smith came in for Alzarri Joseph, Johnson Charles, Odean Smith, he also disclosed. While India took the same XI on to the field as the last match. While Kyle Mayers (17) and Brandon King (18) started off well for the hosts, but not in much time the Indian bowlers sent back the openers in the pavillion. Bowling attack was led by left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh picking 3 wickets in his four overs, while Kuldeep Yadav also bagged 2 wickets
Shai Hope (45) and Shimron Hetmyer (61) gave a sigh of relief for the hosts, setting a target of 178/8 against India. Odean Smith played a small cameo of 15 including a six on the last ball of the innings.
Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal guide India to a comfortable victory against West Indies
Starting the chase, Indian openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, orchestrated a masterclass in batting. Jaiswal’s elegant 84* off 51 balls including 11 boundaries and three sixes with and Gill’s commanding 77 off 47 balls with three boundaries and five sixes in his innings, laid the foundation for India’s resounding victory. Their partnership of 165 runs propelled India past the 179-run target with ease.
The partnership was broken by Romario Shephard who managed to take a wicket for himself and the team.
Both young openers showed composure and calmness in their batting, the team management will surely find confidence in the new opening duo in making.
