India Women defeated South Africa in the final to win ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.

Indian Women’s Cricket Team won ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 as they defeated the South Africa Women’s Cricket Team by 52 runs in the final at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Sunday, 2nd November. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side ended their title drought, winning the Women’s Cricket World Cup for the first time.

Put into bat, India had a dream start with the bat as both the openers in Smriti Mandhana (45) and Shafali Varma (87) batted brilliantly. Shafali, in particular, was aggressive and set the tone, as the hosts registered an opening stand of 104 runs.

Jemimah Rodrigues (24), at three, also supported Varma brilliantly as the Rodrigues-Varma duo stitched 62 runs for the second wicket. South Africa were back in the game with two quick wickets but captain Harmanpreet Kaur (20) and Deepti Sharma (58) steadied the ship again, adding 52 runs for the fourth wicket.

Deepti carried on her good form and hit a vital fifty, while a finish from Richa Ghosh (34) powered India to a total of 298/7.

In the chase, South Africa had a decent start with captain Laura Wolvaardt (101) and Tanzim Brits (23) adding 51 runs for the opening stand. Amanjot Kaur with the brilliant fielding effort provided India with the breakthrough, removing Brits. Soon after that, Anneke Bosch bagged a duck as South Africa came under pressure.

However, Wolvaardt kept fighting hard for her team with Sune Luus (25) as the duo added 52 runs for the third wicket to put pressure back on India. The move to bring Shafali Varma into the attack did wonders for India as she picked two quick wickets.

Amid all this, the South African captain continued fighting hard, hitting another century. Annerie Dercksen (35) played a vital hand as her 61-run stand with Wolvaardt brought South Africa back in the game.

There was a twist in the tale again as Deepti Sharma picked three wickets in a flash to put the opposition under immense pressure. She continued giving her best and finished with five wickets as South Africa got all out for 246, losing the game by 52 runs.
