In the ongoing fourth test of the five-match series between England Cricket Team and Indian Cricket Team at Old Trafford, Manchester, England batter Joe Root achieved numerous record. First he overtook Rahul Dravid and Jacques Kallis to become the third-highest run-scorer in test cricket and then he scored a hundred.
After scoring a hundred in the Lord’s test, Root scored his second hundred of the ongoing series in the Manchester test to register his 38th century in test cricket.
With Root’s century, England crossed 400 runs in the first innings at loss of four wickets. Earlier, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, and Ollie Pope scored half-centuries in the first innings. Root registered his 12th century against India in test cricket.

Talking about the match, England skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bowl first. India piled up 358/10 in the first innings with fifties by Yashasvi Jaiswal (58), Sai Sudharsan (61), and Rishabh Pant (54).

For England, Stokes picked a magnificent five-wicket haul, while Jofra Archer clinched three wickets. England have gained dominance in the encounter with their strong batting show in the first innings. The hosts lead the five-match series 2-1 and need a victory in the Manchester test to seal the series.
