Twitter erupts as KL Rahul hits 6th ODI century on comeback in IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2023 Super Four match

KL Rahul brought up his 6th ODI century in 100 deliveries.

India and Pakistan are facing off in their Super 4s encounter in Asia Cup 2023 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, a match that is spread to two days on September 10 and September 11, 2023, due to rain.

After winning the toss, Pakistani captain Babar Azam decided to bowl first. The starting lineup for the Men in Green was the same as it was in the previous match. Jasprit Bumrah replaced Mohammad Shami, while Shreyas Iyer, who had back spasms, had to be replaced by KL Rahul in the Indian lineup.

India got off to a good start thanks to the opening duo of captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, with the latter hitting most of the runs. In the first powerplay, they scored 61 runs, and they later added 121 runs for the first wicket.

However, both Rohit (56) and Shubman (58) got out in successive overs and Pakistan managed to restrict the run flow easily. India was batting at 147/2 in 24.1 overs before rain brought the action to a halt.

The match was pushed to the reserve day due to a wet outfield and when the play resumed, Kohli and Rahul picked up from where they had left off. India got an advantage as Haris Rauf got injured and was confirmed not to bowl anymore in this match.

Both the players milked runs easily especially from the part-timers as Babar Azam had to compensate for Rauf’s overs. KL Rahul was the aggressor in the partnership and brought up his fifty in 60 balls and set his innings in another gear.

Rahul hammered 10 fours and 2 sixes as he brought up his 6th ODI century in 100 balls, in his comeback match from injury and surgery.

It was a brilliant knock by the Karnataka batter who looked at home in the heat and humidity of Colombo and runs just flew off his blade and his knock was appreciated by everyone.
