IPL 2025: Fans go frenzy on X as MS Dhoni returns as CSK captain

MS Dhoni has replaced Ruturaj Gaikwad as CSK skipper for remainder of IPL 2025.
MS Dhoni finally returned bask as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain on Friday, April 11, for the clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 25th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. CSK vs KKR is currently underway at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Dhoni has taken the leadership role from Ruturaj Gaikwad. Notably, Gaikwad faced an injury in his elbow and was ruled out of remainder of the IPL 2025. During CSKās match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) earlier this season, Gaikwad was hit by pacer Tushar Deshpandeās delivery.
He played a couple of games with his injury, but a MRI on his elbow revealed that he has a hairline fracture and hence has been ruled out of remainder of the tournament. As a result, the CSK management, on Thursday named Dhoni as skipper of the side for the remainder of the tournament. CSK head coach Stephen Fleming confirmed the news during an official press conference.

After taking over the leadership, Dhoni arrived for the toss during CSK vs KKR match at their home ground ā MA Chidambaram Stadium. KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match.
The crowd went crazy inside the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Also, CSK fans went frenzy on social media and shared numerous tweets on X (formerly Twitter) to welcome back Dhoni as skipper. āCaptain Dhoniā became a trending topic on the microblogging platform. Have a look at some of the tweets below.
Meanwhile, Dhoni has a tough challenge to revive the teamās form in the ongoing IPL 2025. The Men in Yellow are currently placed ninth in the points table. They have played five games, losing four of them and winning only one.
CSK commenced their journey this season with a victory against Mumbai Indians (MI) in their opening clash. Since then, they lost four games on a trot.
In their previous clash, they lost to Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 18 runs. Dhoni has slammed 103 runs across five games at a strike rate of 153.73, including seven sixes and six boundaries.
