RCB bundled out Punjab Kings for just 101 runs in Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2025.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) are taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Thursday, May 29. The venue of the PBKS vs RCB encounter is the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh.

RCB skipper Rajat Patidar, who returned to the captaincy in Qualifier 1, won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match. Shreyas Iyer is the skipper of PBKS. While Josh Hazlewood returned to the RCB’s playing XI, PBKS replaced Marco Jansen with Azmatullah Omarzai in the encounter.

Rajat Patidar & Co. displayed a dangerous bowling attack in the first innings. Led by pacers Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Yash Dayal, they dismissed five PBKS batters for just 50 runs till the seventh over. PBKS also lost nine wickets before reaching 100 runs on the board.

Notably, Dayal gave the first breakthrough to RCB in the second over by dismissing Priyansh Arya for just seven runs. Later, Kumar dismantled the other opener, Prabhsimran Singh. Hazlewood gave a big blow in the fourth over by dismissing skipper Iyer for just two runs. He later dismissed Josh Inglis for just four runs in the fifth over.

Even spinner Suyash Sharma did not shy away from his share of wickets. He picked three crucial wickets in his kitty to dismantle Kings’ middle-order. In the end, PBKS were bundled out for just 101 runs in 14.1 overs, with Marcus Stoinis adding the most 26 runs.

Hazlewood and Sharma hunted three-wicket hauls for RCB. Dayal captured two wickets. Kumar and Romaria Shepherd hunted one wicket each.
