Twitter erupts as Sarfaraz Khan finally gets his maiden India test call-up for IND vs ENG 2nd test in Vizag

Sarfaraz Khan scored 161 runs for India A against England Lions in Ahmedabad last week.

Sarfaraz Khan finally earned his maiden Indian call-up as he was named as a replacement for injured KL Rahul in India’s test squad for the upcoming second test of the five-match test series. India lost the first test in Hyderabad by 28 runs and are 1-0 down.

Apart from KL Rahul, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also has been ruled out of the Vizag test due to a hamstring injury. On Day 4 of the Hyderabad match, Jadeja sustained a hamstring injury while batting.

Sarfaraz Khan included in India’s squad for 2nd test against England

During India’s second innings, Jadeja attempted a quick single but was caught short by a direct hit from Ben Stokes. While sprinting, he was observed gripping his hamstring. Rahul, meanwhile, has complained of right quadriceps soreness and will miss the game.

“Mr. Ravindra Jadeja and Mr. KL Rahul have been ruled out of the second IDFC First Bank Test against England in Vizag, starting February 02, 2024. Jadeja sustained a hamstring injury during play on Day 4 of the first Test in Hyderabad while Rahul complained of a right quadriceps pain. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring the progress of the duo,” BCCI stated on its website.

“The Men’s Selection Committee have added Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar and Washington Sundar to India’s squad,” it added.

This is the first time Sarfaraz Khan has been called up for Indian team. Sarfaraz Khan has been one of the prolific run-scorers in Indian domestic cricket. He has scored 3912 runs in 45 FC matches with 14 centuries and a best of 301* at an average of 70.48.

Sarfaraz will coming into the squad with great momentum, he recently played a sensational innings of 161 runs off 160 balls, featuring 18 fours and five sixes in the second unofficial test between India A and England Lions last week.
