Shubman Gill slammed his first-ever test century in English conditions.

Indian Cricket Team batter Shubman Gill started his test captaincy stint on a high as he made sure that he led from the front. He stole the limelight with his brilliant innings in the ongoing first test of the five-match series against the England Cricket Team, which is underway at Headingley in Leeds. 

Shubman Gill, who moved to the number four position, made sure that he aces the challenge and plays one of his best innings in his career. Coming into the game, he faced a lot of criticism for being named India’s captain, especially with his record in overseas conditions being pretty poor. 

On what has been a good batting day, Shubman Gill made sure that he set the stage on fire and gave a perfect reply to all the critics who were against him getting the test captaincy. In the batting position of Virat Kohli, he showed a glimpse of him and notched up a terrific hundred. 

Shubman Gill came to bat at the start of the second session when India were under massive pressure, having lost two wickets quickly. However, the captain made sure that he soaks in all the pressure and bails his team out of trouble along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who slammed a blistering century. 

Shubman Gill played with complete control throughout his innings and, after slamming a sensational half-century, he ensured that he converted it into a brilliant century. In what was his first fifty-plus score in overseas conditions in a while, he hit a brilliant ton. 

Shubman Gill got his ton in 140 balls and ensured that he takes his team to a dominating position. He became only the fifth batter from India to slam a ton on test captaincy debut.
