Shubman Gill brought up third century of his test career in the ongoing Vizag test against England.

Shubman Gill finally broke the run of poor scores in test cricket by hitting a scintillating century on the third day of the ongoing second test between India and England. This encounter began on February 2nd at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam.

India had scored 396 runs in the first innings after Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the best batter scoring 209 runs with 17 fours and 7 sixes to his name. The next best score was 34 runs by Shubman Gill.

For England, James Anderson, Rehan Ahmed, and debutant Shoaib Bashir picked three wickets apiece.

In reply, England started well with Zak Crawley scoring 76 in 78 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes. But then, the wickets began to tumble as only Ben Stokes made 47. For India, Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers with 6/45. He also completed 150 wickets in Test matches. Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets as well.

Shubman Gill stars with 104 in India’s second innings

James Anderson removed both the openers of the Indian team for cheap as Rohit Sharma was clean bowled for 13 runs and Yashasvi Jaiswal made 17 runs before being caught at slip. Shreyas Iyer looked good for his 29 runs and he added 81 runs for the third wicket.

However, Shubman Gill continued as he made his runs at a good pace. He added 89 more runs with Axar Patel for the fifth wicket. He went on to hit his third test century in 132 balls hitting 11 fours and 2 sixes in his knock.

He was looking good for more runs, but Ben Stokes set a trap for him and Gill was out-caught trying to reverse scoop the Shoaib Bashir for 104 runs. This was Shubman Gill’s first century at the no.3 spot after playing several innings and not even reaching fifty.
