Shubman Gill brought up his 5th ODI century in IND vs BAN Asia Cup 2023 Super Four clash.

Opener Shubman Gill has been leading the Indian fightback against Bangladesh in the last game of the Super 4 round in Asia Cup 2023 at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Shubman Gill has smashed his 5th ODI century and getting India closer to the target. Gill is only lacked support from the other end as India have lost wickets back-to-back. India needed 266 runs to remain unbeaten in the tournament. Batting first, Bangladesh posted 265 runs on the board in Colombo. He finished his innings on 121 runs in 133 balls.

Shubman Gill took 117 balls to complete his 5th One-day International century and become a social media trend. He has been batting beautifully on a tricky wicket that produced more turns for the spinners than expected. Bowlers are getting assistance from the wicket in both innings. Shubman Gill kept the scoring on as he kept the scoring on with his brilliant running between the wickets. Gill also smashed boundaries in the inning, he put 4 balls out of the park in his innings so far to get a six and also scored 8 fours.

The right-handed opener has played 32 One-day Internationals so far in his career and has been a consistent performer for the team India since his debut. Gill has scored above the average of 61.19 in ODIs. He also has a double century under his name to testify himself on the biggest stage. Gill’s innings against Bangladesh is full of grit and concentration. Despite losing wickets after wickets he kept his mindset clear about staying long at the Wicket. 

Batting first, Bangladesh scored 265 runs and lost 8 wickets. Shardul Thakur was a little expensive but picked up 3 important wickets to give India breaks in between partnerships. Mohammed Shami also picked up 2 wickets and was economical. In reply, the Indian team had a poor start as captain Rohit Sharma lost his wicket in the second ball of the innings and went back without scoring. From there, Team India kept losing wickets.
