Suryakumar Yadav scored 100 runs off 56 balls with 7 fours and 8 sixes in Johannesburg.

Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav smashed his 4th T20I century with an amazing display of stroke-making at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. It was a brilliant day for the crowd at Wanderers as Suryakumar Yadav was at his best against the Proteas bowlers and took each one of them to the cleaners. In one of the most impressive and high-class T20I knocks, Suryakumar Yadav brought up his hundred in just 55 balls.

Fans on social media were also thrilled to witness a fabulous stroke play from the Indian captain and cheered for him with each shot he played in his innings. A brilliant knock in Johannesburg has once again proved why fans on social media consider Suryakumar Yadav ‘the big thing’ in the T20I format. This is Suryakumar Yadav’s third fifty-plus knock in the last 7 T20I innings. He has also become the first-ever Indian skipper to score a hundred in a T20I game in South Africa.

When he came in to bat, India were under pressure as South Africa got Shubman Gill (12) and Tilak Varma (0) early in the powerplay. India were two down for just 29 runs in 2.4 overs. Surya took charge of the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal and added 112 runs for the 3rd wicket in just 11 overs. Even after Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dismissal, Surya continued to score big shots and smashed a few big boundaries in his innings.

Here’s how twitter reacted to Suryakumar’s sensational century:

Record-breaking numbers for Surya

Suryakumar Yadav took just 55 deliveries to complete his fourth T20I century. He has joined an elite list with the likes of Rohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell. Suryakumar Yadav has become third batsman to hit four centuries in T20I cricket. Surya equaled the number with a magnificent stroke play in Johannesburg. He smashed 7 fours and 8 sixes in his knock and never let the South African bowlers settle in his innings. He took India out of the crisis.

Yashasvi Jaiswal also played a magnificent knock and contributed 60 runs in 41 deliveries with 6 fours and 3 sixes. Jaiswal and Surya played pivotal roles in setting a target of 202 runs for South Africa to chase in the final T20I game of the series. Apart from these two, Rinku Singh was the only batter to score in double digits. India finished their innings on 201 runs in 20 overs and they badly need a win to draw the series. South Africa are 1-0 up in the series.
