Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed his first ever double century in test cricket.

Yashasvi Jaiswal sent Indian fans back to nostalgic lanes when he completed his first-ever double-century in test cricket in a grand manner. Jaiswal was 9 runs away from the milestone and from there on, he took just two balls to complete his double century. Yashasvi smashed a six and a four to square leg against Shoaib Bashir and then went of to celebrate his special moment in test cricket.

Coming from an extremely humble background, the young Indian opening batter will cherish this moment for a long time. Yashasvi Jaiswal became the third youngest Indian batter to score a double ton after Vinod Kambli and Sunil Gavaskar. Vinod Kambli smashed a double century at the age of 21 years and 32 days, while Sunil Gavaskar was 21 years and 277 days old. Jaiswal is currently 22 years and 37 days old.

Master laud Jaiswal’s ‘super effort’

Social media users were also elated after Yashasvi Jaiswal’s magnificent show with the bat against England in the Visakhapatnam test. Left-hand opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal never looked out of control in the previous two days against the English bowlers. He has scored in bulk for India and took his side towards a huge total in the second test at the Dr. YSR ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Vishakapatnam.

Here’s how cricketing fraternity reacted to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s sensational double century:

Yashasvi Jaiswal completed his double century in 277 balls. Jaiswal got a full toss when he was on 197 and he smashed it towards square leg for a four despite a fielder being present there. He was able to find gaps between the fielders throughout his innings and scored 19 fours and 6 big sixes in his innings. Jaiswal was Anderson’s third victim in the game. Anderson dismissed Jaiswal when he was on 209 in the innings.

England pacer James Anderson bowled a magnificent spell early this morning and picked up Ravi Ashwin and Yashasvi Jaiswal as his two wickets in the first hour of play. Anderson got a good movement off the wicket along with the weather also helping him to shape the ball. Ravi Ashwin was dismissed on 20 runs. James Anderson had a terrific second day so far in Visakhapatnam.
