IND vs ENG: 'What a knock,' twitter hails Yashasvi Jaiswal as he smashes hundred in the 3rd test

Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed a brilliant century in the second innings of the ongoing third test match vs England.
India’s left-handed opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a stunning century in the ongoing five-match series against the England. He notched up his third test hundred on day 3 of the third test at the Niranjan Shah Stadium, Rajkot, on Saturday, February 17. During the third session of day 3, the young Indian opener completed his ton. Jaiswal took 122 balls to reach his magnificent century.
Jaiswal’s knock has put India in the drivers seat in the ongoing third test match. Jaiswal is having a great series so far as the youngster has struck his second ton of the five-match series against Ben Stokes-led England. He hit a double hundred in the Vishakapatnam test.
As soon as Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed his third test on social media, the handle ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) was abuzz with some extraordinary comments from various social media enthusiasts.
Here’s how cricketing fraternity reacted to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s hundred:
During his innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal also became the first Indian batter since veteran player Virat Kohli to smash over 400 runs in an India vs England test series. Kohli had scored 593 runs during the 2018 test series against England. In 2021 test series, Indian opener Rohit Sharma was the highest scorer for India, but he ended with 368 runs across four tests.
The Indian opening batter Yashasvi is also the joint seventh fastest to hit three test hundreds alongside Sehwag and Sanjay Manjrekar.
Earlier on day 1, India won the toss and opted to bat first. However, the hosts were rocked back by three early blows in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Rajat Patidar, who departed cheaply in the first session of the third test match against Ben Stokes-led England on Thursday.
However, the experienced duo of Jadeja and Rohit together stitched a partnership over 204 runs. Both Jadeja and Rohit smashed respective centuries and helped India to post 445 runs in the first innings.
After the end of the day 2 play, Rohit Sharma-led India were hit by a huge blow as their senior-off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was forced to fly back to Chennai due to his mother’s illness on Friday, February 16, in-between the ongoing third test match between India and England at the Niranjan Shah Stadium, Rajkot.
