The Ashes 2025-26: “I am doing it this week again…”- Travis Head openly hints about Australia’s opening combination for Adelaide test

Travis Head opened in the first two tests of Ashes 2025-26 against England.

Australian Cricket Team player Travis Head dropped a massive hint about the opening combination for the third match of Ashes 2025-26 against England Cricket Team. The match between the teams will be played at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide on December 17.

The Australian Cricket Team has looked like a brutal force in the Ashes 2025-26. They won both the games by massive margins in Perth and Brisbane and now would be keen to wrap up the series in the next match at Adelaide Oval.

But one thing that has been lacking in the Australian XI is the fixed opening combination. Travis Head has been asked to take the spot with Jake Weatherland as Usman Khawaja has struggled to be fit due to a back spasm.

However, he has been declared fit for the third match and the question remains if Australia will bring him back as an opener or will they continue with the Travis Head and Jake Weatherland combination, which has been successful for them in the last two games.

Australia head coach Andrew McDonald recently mentioned that Usman Khawaja has the “flexibility” to bat in the middle order if required. But he refused to give a clear picture of what will be there for the Adelaide game.

“We’ll always ask ourselves what the best line-up is for that point in time,” he said. “We’ve got the red ball in Adelaide will we continue with what we did in Brisbane? We’ll have to wait and see.”

Amid all the talks, Travis Head provided a hint about the same, saying that: 

“If I am doing it this week again with Jake, we’ll claim him as a South Australian,” Head said, adding that the crowd would enjoy seeing the pair walk out together.

Travis Head has looked settled as an opener and has been the main reason behind Australia’s win in two games.
