Travis Head feels the Aussies have a stong batting depth in their squad for India T20Is.

Australian Cricket Team opener Travis Head has issued a strong warning to Indian Cricket Team ahead of the T20I series. The left-handed batsman has said that Australia have a strong batting depth in their squad for the campaign and they will look to dominate India with their aggressive batting approach.

Notably, Australia comprise a powerful batting line-up for the T20I series against India. Captain Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head, who have vast experience in international cricket, will take the opening slots, followed by Josh Inglis at No. 3. In the middle-order, batters like Glenn Maxwell, Tim David, Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Owen, and Matthew Short add more firepower to their batting department.

Since the start of this year, the Men in Yellow have dominated opposition with their strong starts in the powerplay overs. Even in the recently-concluded ODI series against India, Australia’s batting might was quite visible as they crushed the visitors in the first two games by seven wickets and two wickets respectively, sealing off the series at the start.

During a conversation with Cricket.com.au, Head said that Australia have a strong batting depth with batters like David, Stonis, Maxwell, Inglis, among others. He also added that their mindset in the T20I series will be to score as many runs as possible in the powerplay overs, adopting an aggressive batting approach against India.

“When you’ve got the power that we’ve got behind us, we’ve got to get a move on. You don’t want to be chewing up balls up at the start when you’ve got (Tim) David, (Marcus) Stoinis, (Josh) Inglis, (Cameron) Green and (Glenn) Maxwell behind you. It’s huge power,” Head said.

“We can score anything if we can get going. So, for Mitch (Marsh) and I (the plan is to) try and go out there and take advantage of it (Powerplay fielding restrictions). It’s been a strength of ours for a couple of years, that if you look at both one-day cricket and T20 cricket we’ve put a big emphasis on the Powerplay. We try not to be reckless, but at some stage it will look like that … but yeah, the plan is to try and get as many as possible,” the 31-year-old further added.

Meanwhile, Head struggled to make a mark in the ODI series, getting out for scores of 8, 28, and 29 across three games. However, he will aim for a comeback in the T20I series, which comprises five games. The opening game will be played on October 29 at the Manuka Oval, Canberra, and the series will conclude with the final encounter on November 8 at The Gabba, Brisbane.
