Impressive New Zealand are taking on Bangladesh at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. Bolstered by the return of Kane Williamson, New Zealand bowlers have done magnificently against the Bangladeshis. Kiwi pacer Trent Boult has become the 6th New Zealand bowler to complete 200 wickets in ODI cricket. Boult had a wonderful day with the ball at Chepauk, he needed only 2 wickets to join the elite list of fellow countrymen with 200 plus ODI wickets.

Bangladesh middle-order batter Towhid Hridoy became the 200th scalp of Trent Boult. Hridoy was caught by Mitchell Santner at short extra cover when he was trying to play a drive. Boult delivered a knuckleball and deceived Hridoy completely with the pace. Trent Boult picked up star Bangladeshi opener Litton Das (0) in his first ball of the game. Das was trying to play a pull shot but was caught at the fine leg boundary.

Trent Boult joins the elite list of Daniel Vettori (297), Kyle Mills (240), Tim Southee (214), Chris Harris (203), and Chris Cairns (200). Other than Vettori all are pace bowlers in the list of leading wicket-takers for New Zealand.

Recently, Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja joined in the list of bowlers with 200 plus ODI wickets before Trent Boult. Jadeja completed his milestone in the Asia Cup 2023 tournament. Boult has been a consistent performer for his team. He is known for getting early wickets and putting teams under pressure with his initial swing and movements. On several occasions, Boult picked up wickets of the first ball against Bangladesh as well.
