Trent Boult took a magnificent catch at long-off boundary to dismiss Bas de Leede.

New Zealand are playing against the Netherlands in their second league encounter at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. New Zealand have begun their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign nicely after defeating England in the tournament opener and now they look comfortable against the Dutch. The Kiwi team has always been recognised as one of the best fielding units in world cricket. Against the Netherlands, they have proved this once again.

New Zealand pacer Trent Boult is one of the finest fielders any team can have in their setup. His athleticism has always been rated highly by the experts in the game. Boult has once again proved them right as he took a magnificent catch to dismiss Dutch all-rounder Bas De Leede. All-rounder De Leede was batting comfortably against the Kiwi bowling attack and he was also getting a few boundaries to add pressure on New Zealand bowlers.

Boult's amazing fielding effort

In the 17th over of the innings, Bas De Leede tried to play a big shot over long off for maximum. De Leede timed the shot well enough as the ball was about to cross the boundary line. Trent Boult was positioned at long off where he caught the ball while on jump and then threw it out of the boundary line. Boult then quickly got his balance and once again made a jump out of the boundary to catch the ball.

Trent Boult’s effort was magnificent considering he was just relieved from his opening spell against the Netherlands. Bas De Leede was dismissed after scoring 18 runs in 25 balls with 3 fours. De Leede was looking to build a partnership with Colin Ackerman. The Netherlands are chasing 323 runs to win their first game in World Cup 2023. Netherlands bowlers did a fabulous job in the final overs to restrict New Zealand to 322 otherwise the score would have been bigger.

The New Zealand batting line-up had a wonderful time in the middle as everyone except Glenn Phillips (4) and Mark Chapman (5) got double-digit scores. Opener Will Young scored 70 runs in 80 balls, and Rachin Ravindra played another magnificent knock to score 51 runs in 51 balls. Captain Tom Latham also contributed nicely with his 53 runs knock. Santner’s cameo of 36 runs in 17 balls put NZ above 320.
