A fake video on social media alleged that Shahid Afridi had died.
Former Pakistan Cricket Team skipper Shahid Afridi hogged the headlines after a viral video on social media claimed that he had died and was buried in Karachi. The news video went viral on social media, and many fans also deemed it to be true. As a result, many people also paid condolences to the legend of the game.
The video showed two Pakistani anchors informing about the death of the former Pakistan all-rounder. Hence, it created a lot of confusion among his fans. However, the video has turned out to be completely fake and generated by AI (Artificial Intelligence). According to reports, he is completely fine and healthy. Have a look at the fake video below.
Notably, Shahid Afridi was recently in the headlines for his comments against India in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. The 45-year-old had criticised the Indian Armed Forces during his appearances on Pakistan’s national news channels. His comments also faced a lot of flak from Indian cricket fans.
“Even if a cracker bursts in India, they blame it on Pakistan. You have an 8 lakh-strong army in Kashmir, yet this happened. This means you are useless, not being able to provide security to people,” Afridi was quoted as saying by Pakistani news channel Samaa TV.
“India is 10 years behind Pakistan and dreams of defeating us and being our equal. Pakistan is the fastest-growing country in the world with the most advanced technology. Even calling India our enemy is an insult to Pakistan,” he said last month. Notably, Indian Government also banned social media accounts of Afridi for his hateful comments towards India.
Meanwhile, Shahid Afridi retired from international cricket long ago. He is currently active in politics. He represented the Pakistan Cricket Team in 27 tests, 398 ODIs, and 99 T20Is. He scored over 11,000 runs in international cricket.
With the ball, Shahid Afridi picked 48 wickets in tests, 395 scalps in ODIs, and 98 wickets in the shortest format. He made his debut in 1996 and played his last international match in 2018, which was between the West Indies and the ICC World XI.
