India A won the match against Bangladesh A by 51 runs with captain Yash Dhull winning Player of the Match.

India A thrashed Bangladesh A in a low-scoring encounter of the second semi-final of the ongoing Emerging Nations Asia Cup 2023 in Colombo, Sri Lanka to book a ticket in the final where they will face Pakistan in the final.

In the second knockout game of the day on July 21, 2023, Bangladesh A captain Saif Hussain won the toss and chose to field first given the notoriously spin-friendly wicket in Premadasa Stadium. And his decision proved to be correct.

India A couldn’t stitch a big partnership together as wickets fell continuously with Abhishek Sharma (34) and Sai Sudharsan (21) being the major run-getters from the top-order. However, skipper Yash Dhull held the innings together and added valuable runs with the lower order.

He added 41 runs with Manav Suthar (21) and then 21 with Rajvardhan Hangargekar (15) while scoring 66 in 85 balls himself as India posted a below-par 211 on the board. For Bangladesh A, Mahedi Hasan, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Rakibul Hasan took two wickets each.

Yash Dhull’s brilliant use of spinners Nishant Sandhu and Manav Suthar brings India a brilliant win

Bangladesh began their chase on a brilliant note. Openers Mohammad Naim (38) and Tanzis Hasan (51) added 70 runs for the first wicket in 12 overs. After they got out, Said Hussain (22) and Mahmudul Hasan Joy (20) tried to carry forward the momentum.

But then Yash Dhull’s brilliant captaincy and his use of his two spinners Manav Suthar and Nishant Sandhu brought India back into the game from Bangladesh being 94/2 in the 18th over.

Suthar picked 3/32 in his 8.3 overs and Sandhu picked 5/20 as Bangladeshi batters just surrendered in front of the two and the opposition was bowled out for just 160 runs in 34.2 overs, giving the Indian team a win by 51 runs.

Yash Dhull was named the Player of the Match for his half-century and two catches and he will now lead the Indian team in the final against Pakistan on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Twitterverse erupted in joy as India A young guns won a game despite a below-par score and lauded the young future stars of Indian cricket.
