Twitter reacts as Travis Head smashes sensational century against India in the ICC WTC final
By Saurabh Anand
Travis Head has smashed his test first century away from his homeland Australia.
Australia’s Travis Head has smashed a century against India to steer Australia into a comfortable position. Mohammed Shami gave Australia an early blow after the tea break as Marnus Labuschagne lost his wooden work to Shami’s full-length delivery. After the third wicket, Travis Head started nicely against the Indian pace attack with his usual counter-attacking approach. Head completed his 8th test century in 106 balls with 14 fours and a six in his innings. Head’s innings has put Australia in a comfortable position as well. Along with him, Steve Smith is also chipping in nicely in the partnership.
Left-hander Travis Head’s hundred has put the Indian cricket team and fans in a little worried situation. Several fans have claimed that if Head keeps on batting the way he is doing, Australia will score more than 500 runs. Steve Smith and Travis Head have added the first ever 100 runs partnership in the World Test Championship Final. Fans have also remembered Rishabh Pant after Head’s counterattack. Many Indian fans are missing Pant in the Indian eleven who also bats at number six for India with a similar approach in batting. Pant is away from the action due to a massive accident he faced in December last year.

It was at The Oval in 2019 that Travis Head lost his place in the Australian XI when Justin Langer took him for a walk around the ground. Here he is four years later, standing tall as the first-ever centurion in a #WTCFinal & proving that he’s here to stay. Sensational innings pic.twitter.com/MAagNOOejz

Indian captain Rohit Sharma after winning the toss invited Australia to bat first on overcast conditions. India also went in with 4 pacers and only one spinner in Ravindra Jadeja to take on Australia at The Oval. India started well with Mohammed Siraj picking up Usman Khawaja (0) early in the innings. After the first wicket, Australia had a few decent partnerships along with a big one from Steve Smith and Travis Head. This is Head’s first century away from his home Australia.
