Umesh Yadav injured, Not dropped from test team for WI tour - Reports

Umesh Yadav went wicketless in the first innings of the WTC Final against Australia.
India will be playing with a new pace attack against West Indies in a two-match test series starting from 12th July. Along with Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav’s name was also missing from India’s 16-member squad for the test series. Other than Cheteshwar Puajra, Sarfaraz Khan’s absence from the squad, Umesh Yadav’s absence also made it to the news as he played in the World Test Championship Final against Australia at The Oval. Umesh Yadav’s exclusion was seen as he was dropped from the test squad. According to a news report in Times of India, Umesh Yadav is out of the West Indies tour due to a hamstring injury.
'Umesh is injured not dropped'
A BCCI Source has told TOI that Umesh Yadav is currently recovering at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. A BCCI source has told TOI, “Umesh is suffering from a hamstring injury and is recovering at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore”. Umesh Yadav was not at his best against Australia in the WTC Final at The Oval and managed to pick up only 2 wickets in the game. Umesh went wicketless in the first innings of the game. Umesh also missed a few games in the IPL 2023 for Kolkata Knight Riders due to a hamstring injury. Umesh is not looking in a good rhythm for the last few months.
Cheteshwar Pujara is also dropped from the India squad after his poor show with the bat in the WTC Final and Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year. Mohammed Shami has been rested from the two test series. India will go with Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, and Navdeep Saini in the pace attack along with Axar Patel, Ravi Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja in the spin department, India will play the first test at Windsor Park in Dominica from 12th of July.
