Top five unwanted records held by cricket legends in IPL ft. Rohit Sharma, Rashid Khan

A few star players own unwanted records in the Indian Premier League.

Since its inception in 2008, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has emerged as the most-watched and richest franchise T20 league in the world. Over the years, many players have grabbed the limelight with their incredible performances in IPL and earned recognition among cricket fans all around the globe.

Many batsmen and bowlers have scripted their names in the history books with memorable records in the IPL. On the contrary, some prominent players also have a few records they regret. On that note, below are the five such unwanted records held by legends in IPL.

Unwanted records in IPL that legends regret-

With his ability to clear boundaries with ease and aggressive batting style, Glenn Maxwell has been recognised as one of the most dangerous batters in IPL history. However, he also owns the undesirable record for the most ducks in the tournament’s history.

The Australian stalwart has grabbed 19 ducks in 139 innings. With 18 ducks, Dinesh Karthik and Rohit Sharma are the next batters on this list, followed by Sunil Narine with 17.

4. Harshal Patel- Most expensive over (37 runs)

Playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Wankhede Stadium in IPL 2021, Harshal Patel conceded 37 runs in a single over. In the 20th over of the first innings, he was hit for five sixes and a four by star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

His third delivery was a no-ball, and the free-hit was slammed for a six. Notably, Patel shares the record with Kochi Tuskers Kerala (KTK) bowler Prasanth Parameswaran, who also gave away 37 runs in an over in a clash against RCB in the 2011 edition.

3. Jofra Archer- Most expensive bowling figures (76/0)

Although Jofra Archer is considered among the best pacers to play for England, he has an unforgettable record associated with his name in the IPL.

Representing Rajasthan Royals in an encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025 at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, the England pacer leaked 76 runs in his four-over spell.

Archer conceded 23 runs in his first over and 12 in his second. Later, he leaked 22 and 23 in the 3rd and 4th overs, respectively. His spell also included four byes and a no-ball.

2. Rashid Khan – Most sixes in an IPL season (33)
