Major update on Jasprit Bumrah's participation for SL vs IND Tests

Jasprit Bumrah’s availability for SL vs IND Tests is subjected to his fitness.

The Indian Cricket Team are all set to face Sri Lanka in a two-match Test series, starting on August 15. This Test series is very important for the India in the context of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27. They are in a difficult position and have to win at least seven of their next nine matches.

India are later scheduled to face New Zealand in an away Test series and then Australia at home. With two tough series lined up, they have to make sure they win both Test matches in Sri Lanka, but at the same time, they cannot treat the hosts as inferior opponents.

India’s chances depend on how well their bowling attack performs, and the backbone of their pace attack, Jasprit Bumrah, needs to be fully fit for this series. Bumrah, who has a history of suffering injuries, recently picked up a minor injury during the England tour.

He missed the third ODI at Lord’s after sustaining the injury and was included in the squad for the Sri Lanka series, subject to clearing his fitness assessment.

Jasprit Bumrah has been declared fit to play both Test matches against Sri Lanka. According to PTI, the fast bowler has been cleared by the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru after recovering from the impact injury he sustained during the ODI series against England.

Bumrah’s return boosts the Indian pace attack, which will be crucial to India’s chances of winning the series. India are currently sitting in fifth place in the World Test Championship points table, even behind the likes of Bangladesh. They suffered a defeat against South Africa in home conditions last year, which dented their chances of qualifying for the World Test Championship final.

However, the road ahead is not easy, but the fans will be backing the team to perform well and reach the WTC final. With Bumrah returning, India will feel much more confident about inflicting a whitewash on the hosts, Sri Lanka, and climbing up the points table.
