Pat Cummins has not played any games for SRH in IPL 2026 yet.
Pat Cummins is the designated captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League 2026. However, he was ruled out of the initial games, and Ishan Kishan has captained the team in his absence.
Cummins is recovering from a back injury. The Australian pacer sustained the injury during the West Indies tour last year. He last played a match in The Ashes 2025-26 in December. Due to the injury, he was also ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2026.
Cummins joined the SRH squad ahead of IPL 2026 but did not take the field in any game. In the first week of this month, he travelled back to Australia for a final test of his back injury.
Cummins is likely to join the Sunrisers squad on April 17

According to a report by Cricbuzz, Cummins will undergo a final fitness test on Wednesday in Australia. If he clears it, he will acquire a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Cricket Australia (CA) to participate in IPL 2026. He is likely to be back in India on April 17 and join the SRH squad.
Before the start of IPL 2026, the right-arm pacer clarified that he will play in the back half of the tournament.
“I’m back bowling. I’m bowling basically every third day at the moment. We’ve mapped out a plan to get me right by the middle of the tournament. So hopefully, if nothing goes wrong, I’ll play the back half, plus the final,” he had said.
Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan has led the Sunrisers to two wins. They are currently in fourth spot in the points table with four points.
In their previous game, Hyderabad defeated the mighty Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 57 runs. Surprisingly, they played two debutant pacers, Sakib Hussain and Praful Hinge, in the clash. The duo clinched four wickets each to propel the team to a dominating victory.
